ABOUT ME

Nice to meet you

Sheila Freightman - Special Needs Caregiver Coach

Welcome to my page! I am Sheila Freightman, a passionate Special Needs Caregiver Coach with over 20 years of experience as a trained occupational therapist. My journey has been deeply intertwined with supporting individuals with neurodivergent, developmental, cognitive and physical delays. This extensive background has gifted me with a unique perspective on the challenges and triumphs caregivers face daily.

My Approach

After spending decades in the homes of special needs families, becoming a part of their lives, and engaging in heartfelt conversations, I've gained invaluable insights into the emotional and physical toll caregiving can take. Yet, I've also witnessed the profound love and dedication caregivers have for their loved ones. I’ve transformed into being more than just a coach; I've become a confidant and a source of encouragement for those who often place their needs last. My passion lies in inspiring caregivers to find joy in their lives and courage to embrace change, ensuring they also care for themselves while caring for others.

Professional Background

With over two decades of experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT), I specialize in sensory integration, working with neurodivergent individuals, and providing support in pediatric and school settings. My expertise extends to using Assistive Technology (AT) and implementing homework strategies to enhance the daily lives of those I work with.

I am a Certified Life Coach and a COR.E Transitions Dynamics Specialist (CTDS), holding certifications as a Professional Coach (CPC) and an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP) through iPEC. My coaching approach, whether in individual or group settings, is informed by a rich blend of methodologies aimed at fostering resilience and adaptive transitions.
